Help Anaya Have a Happy Heart

Anaya was born a 32-week premie (premature baby) on February 10, 2022. 3 days since birth, she was diagnosed of Patent ductus arteriosus, a hole that allows the blood to skip the circulation to the lungs. She underwent a procedure where in a device was placed to close the hole in her heart when she was just 5 days old. Thankfully, she was sent back home on February 23, 2022.

However, a recent 2D echo done on April 2022 revealed the presence of cleft mitral valve, another heart defect which causes regurgitation and heart enlargement. On May 2022, 2D echo revealed that the device placed on Anaya's heart status post was slightly displaced. The displacement of the device causes the descending blood flow to decrease. If left untreated, it will cause heart failure, and Anaya may not be able to walk or it may be fatal (worst-case scenario).

She is advised to undergo an open-heart surgery to remove the device and repair the cleft mitral valve as soon as possible. However, MV repair surgery cannot commence until previous balances from the PDA surgery is completed. Possible cost of the repair surgery as per Doctor's advice is around 800,000 to 1,000,000 pesos.
