Hello, folks. Good morning, afternoon, evening, whichever time it is wherever you are. My chosen name is Callahan. No last name, not yet, because I still don't know if I want to keep the surname I inherited from my birth family, especially not with how things are going.

You see, I am a closeted transmasculine queer who only really wants to learn sign language and deaf culture, maybe stream some just 'cause it's fun, and live a fairly simple life doing things that I love whilst helping others enjoy theirs better directly—or even indirectly—as I live it. But it's 2022 in the Philippines, I live with a strict Christian family, and so we can't ever have nice things.

Long-story-short, a cousin of mine found out about my Twitch channel, the one place I am VERBALLY vocal about my sexuality, beliefs, and other such things that would quite literally get me disowned and thrown out into the streets for because, yes, unfortunately, my family's made up of THOSE kinds of Christians. On every other social media platform I am on, I am also vocal about the parts of myself that I could never share with my my own blood, but they're all under my chosen name and none are connected to anything that can point to who I am in real life. Twitch is the one place where you can tell that it is undeniably me on the other end of the screen because you can HEAR me speak of my experiences.

Context provided, I'm scared for my life right now. My parents could very easily stop funding my studies in sign language and just kick me out of the house or send me off to become a church hand the moment they find out I am queer, and they WILL, because as much as I would like to think my cousin is more open-minded than most of the adults in our respective families, they also can't keep a secret to save their life. The inevitability that I will either get kicked out of the house or stripped of a choice in what I want to do with my own life is why I'm on this site now.

My goal right now is $500. It's a lot, I know, but it would be just enough to pay for the rest of my sign language interpreter certification program when they cut me off, and also keep a roof over my head and food in my belly for a little while as I look for a part-time job to support myself as I study.

Any and all donations are appreciated, but like I always say to anyone offering me help, please only give it if you, first off, CAN and, second, WANT to. If you can't, please put your own needs and stability before my own, and if you don't want to, then you don't have to. I've lived most of my life so far having been robbed of choices, and so I would never want to do the same to others, even if I really needed the help.

That's the story. Whether you donate or not, if you've read this far, I hope you have the day that you deserve.

Helping Folks Out

Update posted by Callahan Undecided at 10:32 pm

Right. So. This is a bit of an ironic update, given how this campaign started out of a need to support myself to GET AWAY from my transphobic parents, but the fact of the matter is they're still family AND my brothers and I still live with them. I don't. . . . .

Course Fully Paid

Update posted by Callahan Undecided at 08:42 am
rrrr

As promised, a receipt proving that a huge portion of donations gained from this fundraiser have just ensured that I am able to continue my sign language classes despite my hateful and transphobic family no longer financially supporting me in the endeavor: Unfortunately, I still haven't landed a part-time job. . . . .

Unexpected Hearing Issues But Still Okay

Update posted by Callahan Undecided at 01:21 am

Right...so...bit of bad news that I already spoke of on Twitter, but didn't really feel the need to share here immediately: due to unforeseen circumstances, I currently have really banged up hearing. (Guess I really do need those sign language lessons, huh? Aha.) My ears are now healing though, but. . . . .

Update posted by Callahan Undecided at 04:07 pm

Oh my stars, guys, I am so, so, so thankful for everyone who has donated so far, and even just those who have taken the time to look over the campaign and it's updates. We've already reached 30% of our goal, and here's what that means for me and my. . . . .

Status Update And Current Funds

Update posted by Callahan Undecided at 05:25 am

I just learned today that my parents HAVE cut off funding to my sign language studies, so it actually means so much to me that we've hit $100 in donations already. Thank you so much for that. This at least ensures that I am able to pay for the rest. . . . .
