Help an amputee

My fiance recently had a lower leg amputation.  It has changed out lives forever.  We are proud individuals and have struggled financially trying to make ends meet while he recovers.  His recovery is going well, but he's struggling to get back into the work force.  All of our bills are behind including the mortgage.  I work full time but my income doesnt pay all the bills.  Social Security Disability has turned us down twice, they say he is young enough to work and is recovering too well.  This is true, he doesnt need permanent disability, just some help to get us by until he returns to work.  They dont take in to account the last 7 months that he hasnt had an income. He would probably be mad at me if he knew I were posting this.  I just dont know what to do at this point.  Our house is about to go into foreclosure and the utilities turned off.  Its simple, we need help.  We arent lazy people looking for a handout, just honest hard working people that need to get back on track.
