Help an activist and a student to attend a once in a life time learning journey to the Israel-Palestine territories

About me

Hi everyone!

My name is Giselle. I’m a second-year student who studies international relations and social politics at Minerva Schools a KGI. I have spent the last year at this university in San Francisco. During the next three years, I will be traveling around the world (Seoul, Hyderabad, San Francisco, London, Taipei, Buenos Aires) with students from different countries. Therefore, I was able to discuss and look at the Arab–Israeli conflict through different lenses and perspectives, and this situation became personal to me. There is more information about it here.

I am currently in Moldova, a small beautiful country in Europe, in a politically polarized and financially unstable climate, working on the stabilization of the relations between the government and society. This experience taught me to analyze and develop the ways the dialogues can be made between two parties and what impact it would have.

I was invited to a week-long learning journey about dialogue and political conflict in the Israel-Palestinian territories. You can learn more about in·sight program here. It will be great exposure to how these conversations would look in the real world, and it will help me to gain knowledge and insights how that will help me in Moldova. I need to raise $1000 to cover the costs of my flight tickets, insurance, etc. because the program only covers my program costs. I need to book my tickets before midnight tomorrow, the 14th of June and without this money will not be able to participate.

Why?

As a person who grew in a politically and economically unstable environment, I decided to go to college to get knowledge about the political climate, crisis, and change. During the last years, I also found out that my classmates and co-workers are emphatic and curious about these situations. The Minerva community has students and employees from all over the world. In my class, 152 students represent 53 countries, different races, religions, and genders. This is a wonderful experience for me to learn, grow, and challenge myself.

There is something unique in speaking about Arab–Israeli conflict in a class and walking and chatting with a person from this area who has a different opinion about it. The news that someone might never be able to see his/her family and friends because someone cannot attend this country is shocking. Therefore, it is important to improve this situation. I am in Moldova, Chisinau that has a lot of open and hidden conflicts that spread across the country. Moreover, being in the middle of Ukraine and Russia, the state is trying to look for situations to decrease the tension between two neighboring countries.

I am currently working on understanding the main reasons for the conflicts between government and society as well as trying to implement and implements the knowledge that I gained at Minerva to deal with real-world issues.
