Philippine based fundraiser to bring Allan home to the Philippines

About

Allan Salvatierra had been stranded in the United Arab Emirates for a long time because of overstay fines and debt-related issues. Unable to secure a job after his company laid him off by the end of 2017, he has incurred fines of up to AED 60,000 (USD 16,338) and defaulted on his monthly loan payments.

Now, amidst the recent Covid-19 pandemic crisis, the government of UAE has announced a three month amnesty period from May 18 to August 18, 2020, which will allow expatriates to return to their home country without paying anything. He was about to fly home but got offloaded during his flight on June 15, 2020, because of a travel ban imposed on him by the bank he had a loan on.

He now needs your help to pay for the hefty fine of AED 16,000 (USD 4,357) to lift the travel ban against him so he can proceed and reunite with his family. A little help from you will come a long, long way.

His Story

I am Allan E. Salvatierra, an Overseas Filipino Worker from Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. I have been working as an OFW since March 2010 when I joined a golf club company as a Sales Executive. I worked there for close to eight years. Unfortunately, due to the economic downturn, our company has laid off some of its employees including me. In December 2017, they have decided to terminate me from my job.

I lost my job, but moreover, I lost my right to stay in this country legally. I tried to look for another work. But things didn't turn out well. The last one I got, promised to provide a visa for me, but did not deliver because their trade license had already expired. With that, I incurred overstaying fines that kept piling up and accumulating to a rapid rate of AED100 (USD 28) per day. As of the moment, I have more than AED60,000 (USD 16,338) worth of overstay fines. I could not work or secure a visa until these fines are cleared.

Good thing, that amidst the Covid-19 pandemic, the government of UAE provided an amnesty period which runs from May 18, 2020, until August 18, 2020. This would nullify the overstay fines that I accumulated and I will be allowed to go home without paying for anything.

I was able to secure a repatriation flight on June 15, 2020, with the help of the Philippine Embassy here in Abu Dhabi. But, when I was about to board the plane, the Dubai Immigration Police offloaded me because I have a pending bank loan case that I need to fix before they can allow me to travel. I went to the authorities in Abu Dhabi and found out that I need to pay a fine worth 16,000 Dirhams (USD 4,357) to fix the travel ban. There is no workaround on this. I just need to pay the fine and that's it, I'll be able to proceed.

The problem is that I have no money to pay for this. I have been out of work for almost 3 years already. If my company hadn’t terminated me, I would have completed the payment for this loan already by this time. But unfortunately, things did not happen according to my plan. So now, I am asking for your help. Help, which I probably do not deserve and help, which I am so ashamed to ask for. But, it's either this or be trapped in this country for a very long time.

I know that my situation is a consequence of the many bad decisions I have made. But, I also know that everyone deserves another chance in life, to make things better. For now, I can only think of going home to my country and be reunited with my family. I have been living through God's grace, through the help of Lifeharvest Restoration Church and the people around it. I am so grateful for their love and generosity.

I would like to thank you for your time and your willingness to help my cause. I have been waiting a long time for a miracle to happen. I thought it wouldn't come. But, now the miracle finally came and it is you. That every individual, no matter who and what they are, can change the world through the many little acts of kindness that they give to one another. Small ripples, when bonded together form giant waves that crush mountains... mountains of insurmountable challenges.

Thank you so much, I appreciate your help. I hope that I have touched your life as well as you have touched mine. Let it be known for sure, that there is hope in every situation. That we can turn things around if we only work together hand in hand.

"At present your plenty will supply what they need, so that in turn their plenty will supply what you need. The goal is equality." (2 Corinthians 8:14)

P.S.: Kindly make your name visible when donating so I would be able to thank you personally and hopefully, be able to repay you in some way in the near future. God bless you.

Thank you so much for all the kindness and generosity that you have given my dad. Although on the platform it does not reflect that we have reached our goal, most of the donations were sent through direct transfers. We are so happy that we have reached our goal and. . . . .
