We are two old people that are living on my husband’s pension. We have nobody in West Malaysia to take care of us so we decided to move to Sabah, because I have a brother here.

We asked a few forwarding companies for half a container as we could not afford one container for the charges were RM7000. No forwarding company was willing to do half container. Someone recommended a forwarding agent that was more than willing to give us half a container, for RM3670.This guy came to our house about five to six times each time I asked him again and again what furniture can be taken in half a container. He told me not to worry cupboards can go one on top of the other and for me to put clothes, books linen and any item that can fit into the cupboards so as to save space. Then he said I need special packers to pack and I need to pay RM100 to each packer, and RM400 for the motorbike wooden case even though it was an old bike.We were also asked to buy six rolls of plastic wrap and eight rolls of broad tape.

The packers fees and the motorbike case fee was to be paid to the packers directly, we paid RM300 for the three packers and RM400 to the head packer, amounting to RM700.

When the lorry arrived just before loading into the lorry the agent ordered the packers to cut the plastic wrap from the cupboards and throw all the items into the lorry. When I asked him why he did that and by doing that it will look like its one container. He said that when it gets to the warehouse it will be replaced and that was his department not mine and to not worry he knows what he’s doing.

We being two old people did not know that they do not repack at the warehouse. When the container reached Kota Kinabalu port in Sabah the clerk called me and said that my items came up to one container costing RM8213 and they took my money that I paid for half container as a deposit and now I owe them RM4543.

Our container now lies at the Kota Kinabalu port in Sabah for the past one and a half months the day to day charges are also mounting. We did not want one container cause could not afford to pay RM7000. Now we have to pay and additional of RM6000 apart from the RM3670 that we paid.

We are living in an empty room on donations from people. We have been cheated and nothing can be done to get our items out only to pay up.

We two helpless old people appeal to the public to help us retrieve our items from the warehouse and put us out of our misery. Thank you.
