Remember that time when we used to wake up early in the morning while our mother is cooking breakfast and we open the television to watch cartoons? How about that time when it was raining during the first day of May and we were all enjoying outside? Or guess what, that time where we play traditional games outside such as piko, langit lupa, chinese garter, pogs, etc. with our friends? Well to most kids nowadays, these experiences are equivalent to watching Youtube videos from Chuchu TV and singing/dancing along to Baby Shark or Kahit Ayaw Mo Na by This Band.

These are some of the privileges that we are very lucky to experience during the good old days and the present time. As a kid, it's as if that 'having fun' is our sole duty. Kids are special and they are a gift from heaven. Our happiness is also our parent's happiness. To Argus Aedan these things are almost out of reach due to his regular Chemotherapy and other medical processes at his young age of 5.

When he was diagnosed with Rhabdomyosarcoma last January 2019, his parent Analyn and Jaymark, felt like their world is falling apart. It felt like everything was ahead of their son's life. There is still so much more for him to experience and it just happened so fast.

  • Rhabdomyosarcoma, or RMS, is an aggressive and highly malignant and rare form of cancer that develops from skeletal muscle cells that have failed to fully differentiate. It is generally considered to be a disease of childhood, as the vast majority of cases occur in those below the age of 18. It is commonly described as one of the "small, round, blue cell tumors of childhood" due to its appearance on an H&E stain.

He conducts his Chemotherapy in Philippine Children's Medical Center (PCMC). He is undergoing treatment to reduce the size of the tumor and then eventually remove it. The total price per cycle is Php 119,946.96 (Php 719,681.76 for 6 cycles as issued on their protocol).

There is hope, and we must share it to this young boy who still has a lot to see in this beautiful world. Let us help him experience even the most simplest of things that we often take for granted. Let us pray for his full recovery for the world to keep witnessing his genuine and innocent smile. Let us share kindness and help Aedan through his journey and battle against cancer.
