Young American adults are the largest group negatively affected by the American health care system. When you add a preexisting condition into the factor, it doesn't matter if one can afford $3,000 a month for insurance because still no one will cover you. My name is Michelle I'm a 27 year old collage educated women. Who has occurred great debt because of our health care system. While I am grateful that things are improving and hopeful that soon I won't be DENIED health insurance based on the fact that I'm forever labeled with a preexisting condition. I'm afraid ill always be in debt due to my medical bills that I've been trying to pay out of pocket for the last 2 years. My parents always told me how important it is to have health insurance. When I got sick i was covered under my parents plan which was great , but shortly after being diagnosed with a autoimmune disease which effects my digestive system,I was kicked off their plan and no insurance company would touch me. I wonder if its due to the fact that my lab tests alone equal around $40,000, or a month of prescriptions would set them back $3,000 and then there's the doctors fees..... I guess I'm just too costly to be covered. So, while I have hope for the future of our system , im asking for help to pay my medical bills, anything would be greatly appreciated and in return I will send everyone that supports me a handwritten card and those that go above and beyond will receive home baked cookies.
