A few days ago, I received a letter from Medicaid (which covered my son) and Medicare (which covered me with a disability) and we were told our coverage will end Feb. 9. We were not given a chance to reapply, only appeal through a lengthy process that takes up to 30 days and the ending date of coverage is in two weeks.

I am a single mother and my son, Ethan, has had a heart murmur and serious vision issues since birth. We cannot afford to lose coverage. My fastest hope is to raise the money to retain an attorney to help us fight this. I have found a local SS/disability lawyer who will only make us pay half the retainer IF we can raise it.

Please, help us keep our coverage and help us retain a lawyer! I have no close living relatives and I work minimum wage jobs to try to make ends meet. Ethan has no idea. I try every day since getting that letter to not let him know what is going on, but he's six. I can't hide it forever, and he's intelligent. At his school he's been recommended for CLUE, and all of that costs money. If we lose our coverage and can't get someone experienced to help us fight it, we will be in a terrrible situation. I have had many instances like this before, like when my disability was denied, but my father was alive to help me. I am divorced from an unfaithful alcoholic and I have no one.

Help us get the attorney who is willing to work for half his normal cost so we can live.
