Hello, we are a group of volunteers in Korinthos, Greece, and we would like to ask for your support for a Syrian family of seven. We have known the family for over a year and would like to share their story to raise money for them to finally be able to go to France and settle down in a safe place with good prospects for the future of their five children!

As the support is needed urgently, we hope to reach our goal of 2100 after one month so we will close the crowdfunding in the middle of January 2023.

Thank you for reading, contributing, and sharing this!

In 2013 the family had to flee from the war in Syria and after endless horrible experiences on the way through Syria, Turkey, and the Mediterranean Sea, they arrived in Greece in August 2016 to seek asylum. Their application for asylum was accepted but sadly this wasn’t the end of their journey. Since then, they have been living without any financial or material support from the Greek government. For some time, they had to live in the streets of Athens because they couldn’t afford a place to live.

Now they are living in a one-bedroom apartment in a small village. Currently, Ghaleb, the father of the family and husband of Samar, lost his job once again as he is depending on seasonal work, so they had to live without electricity and gas for a few weeks. Even in times when Ghaleb did have a seasonal job, the salary of 30-35€ per day was never enough for rent, food, and medical care. The children, Rawda (16), Malek (12), Ayad (10), Retaj (5), and Yusuf (1), are not able to go to school as they are not allowed in the school for Greek pupils in their village, and there is no class for refugee children nearby. Nevertheless, the children are very eager to learn. Indeed, they speak Arabic, English and Greek! Malek, the oldest son, has Down syndrome and requires additional support in his daily life due to his condition.

During the six years of trying so hard to build up a life in Greece, the family constantly experienced the lack of support from the government and Greek institutions. Because of that, they need financial help to leave the country and go to France where they have family.

We are collecting 2100€ with the goal of being able to give the family 2000€ in total, as they need:

- 650€ for collecting the passports for each family member

- 200€ Administrational fees

- Approximately 600€ for flight tickets to France

- 500€ for living costs and bills until leaving Greece

- Approximately 50 -100€ for the crowdfunding fees on the campaign

The family appreciates any help you can give! And we, the volunteers, really hope we can reach the goal and give them the good news so they can start their new life in France as soon as possible.
