Hello! I hope you're having a nice day/night while reading this!
Who am I?
I am an 18 year old girl from Morocco. And I recently got accepted in YONSEI UNIVERSITY (Business Administration Program). My family can't afford this amount for now but I do not want to give up because of my financial difficulties and instability.
More about me!
For the same reason, i already am in a gap year and wishing to start college this year. I am a person who really holds onto their education. I am both academically and socially active. I am a straight A student and I can speak 5 languages! I also have other diplomas/test certificate other than the baccalaureate: SAT, TOEFL, TCF,...
My dream is to become a female leader icon after studying Business Administration. I have always wanted to leave a print and a legacy in the world, that’s when I knew I wanted to be a woman leader. Growing up, I have always been and I still am fascinated by powerful women and leadership icons such as Angela Merkel, Melinda Gates, Ginni Rometty, and so on… However, women, especially in my entourage, aren’t encouraged. I grew up in an environment where women did not really have the right to speak up for themselves. I want to break the vicious cycle and be inspiration for others.
I got recently admitted to my dream school. After talking to the school about my financial situation, I realized that I have to pay the tuitions before they could give me any financial aid. However, they assured me that i could get financial help afterwards.
This year has been a roller coaster for our family. My mom lost her job and her ex-boss didn't want to giver her the paychecks for the months she worked. My dad owns a small medical cabinet and earns his paycheck depending on the day and the number of visitors. However, no one has been coming for a while and my dad doesn't have a stable income all because of the COVID-19 virus and the lock-down. My mom is also undergoing a surgery soon on her foot and medical fees are taking up almost all our savings. So it is pretty impossible to get the money for the deposit right now and there's no one around who can help either. I am still perplexed from my current situation but I really want my sincerity to reach your heart.
I am already in a gap year and I don't want to loose another year lived in despair. But our financial situation isn't helping me achieve the degree I want. I am reaching out to you as it is my last resort!
Asked questions from people:
Yonsei gives great scholarships. Didn't you apply?
Yes, I applied for financial aid and merit scholarships. However, after I contacted Yonsei university admission Office, I have been told that I have to pay the tuition fees first and later, when all the students are enrolled, they will announce who's going to get the scholarship!
What about after? Would you be able to pay?
Yes, I can pay starting the first year on my own. Unfortunately, the first year's tuition is 5 times the price of the following years' tuition. If only I could attend this year, I'd be able to afford the following years on my own. This year, my parents are already taking care of my visa fees, rent, food expenses,.. ( other than a sum of the tuition )
Can you take out a student loan?
I already checked this with the bank. The bank student loan isn't enough to cover the tuition fees, and the probability of getting it is really low since my mom lost her job. So I figured I could do a fundraiser instead.
Some people asked me for a proof that I got accepted
In my fundraiser's headline pictures I will upload the proof! Also some people think that it's a language program and told me to give up on it! No, it's not a language program; it's a 4 year bachelor degree for Business Administration. It's really competitive to get in and I don't want to give up on it!
