Help a Senior Save Her Home!

A worthy cause: Active, skilled, employable senior citizen was displaced from her city job during the 2008 economic crisis and consequently moved back to her hometown, a small city in the Midwest, expecting to find work in the new location. Aside from an occasional freelance editorial job, opportunities to utilize her experience and capabilities have been scarce to non-existent in a drastically different job market. As a result, limited finances are inadquate to keep up with property taxes on the family home, and other essentials. A property tax payment on her home is due in early September, and her present resources do not cover this amount. In addition, back property taxes must be paid, and were purchased by a company that is willing to work with her. Even so, the additional $350 a month to pay them back is not manageable without employment to augment her social security. She has also struggled with home security issues in her neighborhood involving theft and vandalism, with, as yet, no legal enforcement until she can afford a reliable home security system. All in all, she needs about $3,000 in September to cover the taxes (current, and part of the previous ones), and equity loan payment. An additional $300-$500 would help get some security equipment for the house. Any additional donations would be appreciated for much-needed home repairs, including kitchen re-flooring, a shower plumbing repair, and an online course in internet marketing to enable her to establish a source of income online. She has successfully maintained this family home for more than 10 years and deserves to be helped at a time when lack of employment has caused much insecurity.
