Campaign Story
In Kenya, several villages have the challenge of drought due to effects of climate change. Lack of regular and predictable rains and also reliable water sources to irrigate vegetable gardens or even for animals mean that many young people cannot trust farming for their livelihood. They have turned to drinking and engaging in risky behavious as a past time. As one of the son's of one of these villages, I would like to engage the youth in small income generating projects to ensure they are occupied and productive again. My intention is to assist them grow drought resistant plants to keep them busy. In my mind is the organicTea tree for extraction of oil. I can secure the seeds but I need capital for establishing an extraction plant. The tea tree juice can then be secured and sold and the profits ploughed back to support the families of the farmers, especially the impoverished women. Your support will turn around a story of despair into a story of success.
