Twambagane (let us help each other) is a platform Engineer Wilson Bikaba formed with the sole aim of tackling poor housing conditions in rural Uganda. It was founded in 2019 with a vision to greatly cut on the number of deaths due to diseases associated with poor housing. Wilson is ready to volunteer his engineering skills to build durable, structurally safe and environmentally sustainable free houses for poor families (incomes less than 1000 USD a year).
Overcrowded and substandard housing is associated with a lot of infectious diseases, for example, tuberculosis, hepatitis, dengue fever, pneumonia, cholera, and malaria, taking millions of lives every year. We need to save these lives.
Having been out of college for almost a year without a job, I decided to start this platform so that I can use volunteer my engineering skills, networking and collaborating with those who have something to contribute and perhaps share the vision of “A safer house, a healthier poor Ugandan and a better world”, to build better houses for poor families in rural Uganda. I am a very big asset, with tuition investment of more than 180,000 USD. So I thought it would be a very wise idea to put this capital to work, gain some hands-on experience in structural engineering as as well serve and improve lives of millions of poor families in rural Uganda. I therefore call upon all those who can afford to support this vision, a vision to help a neighbor live a better life. A safer house, a healthier poor Ugandan and a better world. Thank you all.
Twambagane welcomes everyone to support us financially. We have a plan to extend our services to more than 100 poor families in the next 5 years. A standard house of 2 bedrooms, common area, a store and a rainwater harvesting system costs approximately 4000 USD. Contributions of any amount, say $10, $100 or $4000 donation counts. We also welcome those interested in attending the commissioning ceremony. We have the time to help guide as you safely travel in Uganda. Thank you all.
