Help a mother and daughter escape an abuser

This is my best friend Deabhan and her amazing adopted daughter Adrianna.

Deabhan took in her sister’s daughter and has raised her as her own since she was six months old when her sister was unable to take care for her. Adrianna is now a beautiful, smart, and happy 8 year old. Deabhan goes to work everyday and does whatever she can to feed Adrianna and keep a roof over their heads, despite having multiple health issues (chronic kidney stones, Celiac disease, gout) that cause her to be in a great deal of pain everyday.

Despite having many terrible experiences with people Deabhan continues to trust others and only sees the good in other people. She met a man two years ago who promised to take care of her and her daughter but could not have come up any more short. It started with shouting, but then quickly progressed to him pushing her, and now he has no hesitation to hit or even choke her. She has called the police many times but as many of his family members are police themselves, he always seems to know what to say to get them to leave. So it falls on Deabhan to tr to keep the peace at home for her daughter’s sake and never allows her to witness any of the violence, but it is impossible to live your life walking on egg shells. He snaps at the slightest provocation and I believe that he will kill Deabhan if she does not get out of there soon. Unfortunately she hasn’t been able to save up money as this man never has any money despite working full time. Whenever rent is due she winds up paying nearly all of it by herself. He says he makes car payments yet they can’t park their car on the street because he’s afraid it will be repossessed. She can’t ask him about money because he turns violent. She can’t wake him up when he’s sleeping because he gets violent. She can’t do or say anything to upset him because he gets violent.

Recently a neighbor and mother of one of Adrianna’s school friends noticed something was wrong when she saw Deabhan covered in bruises. When Deabhan told her the truth about the monster she was living with this woman felt compelled to help. Her family had just come into some money from the sale of their condo and offered to pay for 6 months rent in a new apartment. The day before they were supposed to look at apartments however, the woman sent a text saying that a family emergency had come up requiring more money and that she would not be able to help at all.

I have never felt so helpless as I do right now, having to witness the slow murder of someone who wouldn’t think twice about giving me the shirt off her back. Please help me put a down payment on an apartment and get Deabhan and Adrianna out of the nightmare that they are trapped in.
