Hi,

Just call me MST (a Middle School Teacher),

I need to ask for your help to purchase some apartment buildings for income because, I would like to retire in 6 or 7 years and this could help me get there. The funds will be used for down payment, closing costs, and reserves. (I have a lender in place as we speak!) My current salary does not provide enough capital for me to bring this amount to the closing table therefore, the only way for me to close is with your help.

I know you are fully aware that teachers are not endowed with huge salaries and large benefit packages. Instead, we are given more and more responsibilities and asked to modify our teaching styles to accommodate today's students. As we learn more inclusive and creative ways to teach, we are faced with paying back the thousands of dollars borrowed to become qualified for the job. We purchase supplies for students who do not have paper, pencils, crayons, colored pencils, binders, folders, and notebooks. We purchase supplies for our classrooms to make it more interesting for our students. We give money to students who may not eat breakfast (or dinner) at home or may not have lunch money. Once I set money aside to purchase glasses for a student whose parents could not buy them. Once I spent $500 to paint my classroom when the school district could not do it. And these are only a few things that teachers do for our kiddos that we are not paid to do, nor are we reimbursed for them.

As you give, think about all the middle school teachers who stay in the classroom and teach even when we have many students who are set on making problems. Then consider the parents and caregivers who unjustly blame teachers when their children will not perform. With all of the educational and licensing requirements set forth by the state, teachers could effectively leave the teaching profession and make a lot more money. Even so, we stay in the classroom out of love (love for the children, love for the industry), hoping and praying that we can reach just one more child.

I hope you will consider my request and give as much as you can. In return, I will be able to retire with dignity, knowing that I will have enough income to support myself and I Thank You in advance for your support.

Educationally yours,

A Middle School Teacher
