Hope for African Mtoto is a Community Based Organization found in 2016 located in Rakai District (currently divided into two districts Kyotera and itself ) Kibutamo Village in Lwankoni Sub-County.

According to the Report by Bmc Public Health Published 14th March 2017 on HIV prevalence among young people aged 15-24 (bmcpublichealth.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s12889-017-4166-2), the HIV/AIDS prevalence is at 19.7% per 155 people in the district and of these, more are young women who double the number of men. Many young girls and women engage in transactional sex which has led to the large spread of HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Diseases in this district. There is a high rate of dropout of school, early child marriages, teenage pregnancies, rape, child sacrifice and drug abuse and unemployment.

Hope for African Mtoto transforms marginalized individuals from underserved communities to become self-sustainable and champions of the change desired through Food security, Social entrepreneurship, Sexual Reproductive Health, Early Childhood Education and Personal Development programs.

Due to the need to solve the above challenges, we are launching a network of programs on 5th March 2021 in Kyotera Village. This is in addition to the current WASH and child advocacy and life planning at the Hope Center, and these are to be implemented to boost impact to the community by Hope for African Mtoto through 4 projects namely;

Youth Emerge School (YES) ;- A transformation and empowerment center for the marginalized youth trained through personal development, professional development and social entrepreneurship programs to make their own social businesses to change their lives and impact their communities.

Kula Hub;-A epi-center for all farmers’ needs offering training in Regenerative-Organic farming, Coaching, Mentoring , Agri-Business and Startup Strategies and Development , Micro-Credits as well as an accelerator program for Agri-Businesses or Startups.

Fragile Girls;- A program that supports young women in marginalized communities to become self-driven and champions of the fight against early child marriage, high rates of HIV/AIDS infections, school drop-out, menstrual stigma and teenage pregnancy through Sexual Reproductive Health Education, Coaching, Counselling, Mentoring, Personal Development and PataPads Startup and:

Visionary Child;- A program led by Specialists in Early-Childhood Education aimed at strengthening the capacity for early personal development of the children from struggling families including orphans and street children through Read, Write and Speak programs and Art work.

SPECIAL PROJECT FUNDING

This year we are launching the above programs where we shall be renovating a space for the empowerment of the youth as well as the Farmer's knowledge center.
On this date, we have collected donations of clothes, shoes and sanitary pads.
We shall be giving out these to the community.

KYANGO HEALH CENTER
Kyango is a Health Center located in Kibutamo Parish in Rakai District, one of the very few in the District, currently the rate of COVID-19 infections is high and health workers find difficult of having a full gear for masks and sanitizers. We want to donate to them at least 1000 masks, a 20 liter jerrycan of sanitizer and a 40 liter tank for washing hands.

KIBUTAMO GIRLS

There are high cases of early child marriages, pregnancies and school dropouts , we realized that the lack of sanitary pads and menstrual stigma are the root causes. Starting with 100 girls, giving them sanitary pads, we are looking at empowering them through our Fragile Girls program using a StartUp called PataPads were they will learn about Sexual Reproductive Health, Coaching, Counselling and how to make money through making reusable sanitary pads.

We are requesting you to help us impact and transform the community as a whole. We believe that this small touch can cause a great impact.
We shall be posting our progress as soon as this campaign is done and incase you would love to join us get to us through [email protected]
