A very dear friend of mine who has always been there for me whenever I need him urgently needs to return home to India following his brothers suicide. No one had any idea at all he was depressed, he never mentioned it once to a single person. He was always the strong older brother who was there for everyone else, He was truly a one of a kind man. The entire family is utterly devastated and in a complete state of shock.
A lack of funds and home office delays has led to him already missing the funeral which has greatly increased his distress and that of his mother. The poor guy had to sit at home watching the funeral on face time rather than surrounded by his family back in India. No one should ever be put in that position. I hoping to raise £10000 to firstly cover all his traveling expenses and time taken off work as this will have to be unpaid. I hate the thought of him returning to work too soon, he needs to be with his mother for as long as he needs. I know money can never replace the loss of a loved one but any help that makes this dreadful time a bit more bearable for his family would very much be appreciated.
He is truly an amazing person and so was his brother, I've tried various loan options myself but been unsuccessful. So far all I've managed is the last £100 I had which seems so inadequate compared all he has done for me. This family separation is making an awful situation worse, his brother was only 38 and now my friend who is the baby of the family is currently stuck in the Uk alone with none of his family around him.
Suicide in India is still illegal and there can be a stigma attached that the person is seen as weak. Let's give comfort and show that here in the UK and India that suicide is seen as a person being strong for too long.
