Hey, our names are Deryli-Loreen Hint and Monika Annijerv, and we are two ballet students from Estonia who have dreamed of a ballet career ever since we can remember. Starting young, you don't really understand the reality of what a career in ballet would actually mean and how competitive the industry is. We have spent hours and hours pouring our hearts into our craft, only to come to a realisation that in Estonia, there are only two ballet theatres that we can audition for and even the only two theatres are completely full for all upcoming seasons and are not looking for any new dancers at all. Stubborn as we are, we didn't want to just give up and quit ballet altogether, after all, it's an art form that we are so crazily passionate about. So we had to start looking elsewhere. After shooting countless audition videos and working even harder than ever before, finally, it paid off! We got an invitation to join a Trainee Program at the Virginia National Ballet. Now you might be wondering what does a Trainee Program mean? To put it shortly a trainee trains with the rest of the company and even gets to perform with the actual company in their performances. So why is it so important for us to join the program? This is a step in our career that could decide everything. As mentioned before, the competition in this profession is huge and the fact that we even got invited to join the Trainee Program can't be underestimated, as an opportunity like this might not present itself ever again. If we get to take part in this amazing opportunity, it could launch our whole careers in ballet! Because nowadays more and more ballet companies are looking for dancers that are experienced or have done some previous work with companies as trainees. Students who just freshly walk out of a ballet school have a hard time finding a ballet company they could join as a professional dancer. So, given we get to join this program, we might advance within the Virginia National Ballet to a company position or in any other theatre in the world. But for that, we really need your help. Going to America from a small country in Europe is a huge step and any small or big contribution would be of help, as we need to cover all the costs related to travelling, living and dancing. Having estimated the costs that we will be faced with, it is clear that this will not be a cheap experience for us, and although our parents are doing their best to support us in every way, we could really use some extra funding. Your help will be greatly appreciated and by helping us to kick-start our careers, YOU just might be one of the lucky ones in the future to see us dancing on a stage. Thank you!
