Help Uuja to teach the kids better

I met Uuja through her brother (Couchsurfing) Sri Lanka. He wasn’t able to host me and Uuja & husband hosted me instead at Kekiwara, Anurathapura, Sri Lanka. It was unexpected but it was definitely a beautiful experience.

Uuja opened not only her home but her heart during my stay with her. Even with such little she has , she shared. She was a stranger when I met her but now she's like a sister that I wish I could help and be part of making her dreams come true.

She is an aspiring teacher that has great visions for the kids of Sri Lanka. Currently she is teaching English to kids ages 8 years old to 12 years old. I have volunteered teaching all the classes and my favourite was the 8 year old class (photos as attached!)

Unfortunately with limited resources she’s can’t really realized her dreams for the kids.

Her ambition is to have foreign English teachers to teach in each of the classes and later with bigger funds to have multimedia included in the classrooms. She believes that the kids could learn so much quicker and improve their English better if there’s an English teacher/native English speaker on frequent basis.

The funding will help Uuja to complete the building of the classrooms and the her house to better accommodate foreign teachers/native English speakers. I believe this funding could also benefit young travelers who would like to volunteer at Uuja’s place as Uuja would have more resources to accommodate them better.

Uuja and her husband live in a rural town called Kekiwara an hour to the famous Anurathapura ancient city.
