Campaign Story
Hy is daardie selfde dag oorgeplaas Universitas toe.
Thomas was born in bothaville at Nala hospital he had only a breathing problem when Bothaville decided to send him to Bongani in Welkom because they did not have the equipment to help him.
He was there in the incubator for 2 weeks and got infections all the time and also meningitis, when we ask them why he gets infection all the time they say the infection does not come from outside but from inside because their livestock their incubators down but they are not sterilized.
My mother-in-law spoke to a doctor at Universitas in Bloemfontein and arranged for them to transfer him to Universitas from there, because Bongani would not do that if we asked them. He was transferred to Universitas that same day. He was in Universitas for 4 weeks but after 2 weeks we found out an enlarged mild and liver.
They did an MRI scan from time to time and so we found out he had a large cyst on the right side of his brain and a few small ones. At a year and a half they confirmed that he had Cerebral Palsy and Epelepsy.
In 2017 they did a scope and then saw that he had varicose veins in his stomach which also later went to his esophagus but because he has a blood clot that gets stuck at the beginning of his liver because he was so sick after birth and now functioning she doesn't deliver.
They can only operate him when he is 5 years old.
He wants to walk but because he is so big you don't get a walking ring for his size now we have to hold him when he wants to walk and he gets too heavy for us. He had a running frame at one point that someone made for him out of pvc pipes but lifting too big and heavy for him now too. And you struggle with the state because they never have anything because they also have no funds
