Campaign Story
We require funding for both our organizations which impact the West Suburbs.
Heaven’s Kitchen is a charity that is run by a few locals from Pinetown and the Upper Highway area. The non-profit organization, started by Kayleigh and Abraham in 2014, currently feeds around 150 homeless people every Thursday evening outside Tiger wheel and Tyre in Pinetown.
For most of those coming through the doors at Heaven’s Kitchen 3610, it’s their first meal of the week We feed Mondays and Thursdays. We have a local bakery that supplies us with bread, however, the other donations are dependent on contributions from volunteers and the local community. We aim to restore the self-worth and self-esteem of the adult street person by addressing their spiritual, physical and emotional needs. In doing so, we aim to help rehabilitate them back into society. We need funding for meals, packaging and all the weekly things we use to make this happen. We feed a hot cooked meal, sandwiches and fruit with juice. Then our Christmas function which is a special time of the year were we spoil the less fortunate with a 3 course meal. This will take place on the first Thursday in December. This is held at the Civic Centre hall in Pinetown. The hall gets decorated with lighting and beautiful table setting. We also hand out presents for each person which consists of basic groceries, toiletries and treats. We build 200 of these. This costs plus minus R10 000.
We launched Heaven's Gifts January 2018, this initiative goes beyond just giving. We spend an afternoon visiting a hospital, orphanage and/or children's/baby homes on a monthly basis loving the children/babies. We take along food, basic toiletries and anything else the place may need.
Both of these organizations need funding to keep things going.
