Heartworm Treatment for Sercie

Sercie was a "frequent flyer" at the shelter for the last couple years. Her people would be notified that she was there...again...and they would come get her...again.

This last time, though, when the ACO went to tell them and issue their ticket, he could see them in the window behind the curtains, but they refused to answer the door.

And so Sercie was almost out of time...until we stepped in to help her. Sercie has dry eye and because it was never treated, her eyes were horribly infected and she has gone mostly blind. She has a wobble in her front ankle. And of course she has heartworms. Fortunately, she got to us in time to treat her for them and hopefully save her life.

Sercie hasn't had a great life; it shows not just physically, but in her lack of interest in humans. She'll let you pet her, but she doesn't expect it. It would never occur to her to ASK for it. She just does what she does, independently of humans. It's time to change her expectations.
