We are a bunch of students, who love to play rugby, have a good time and do our part for society. Each year we aim to raise as much money as we can for a particular charity. As students of Queen Margaret University, a winner for one of the most eco-friendly universities in the country, we feel it is our duty to help promote our university. Last year, we produced a nude calander, raising just almost £1000. Over half of the funds went to Help for Heroes, our sponsor for our recent strips. Ideally we like to help charities who help out other guys.
This year, we would like to raise money to donate to the 'Hearts and Balls' foundation, a charity based in Edinburgh who help out families and individuals who have suffered from serious injuries in the game. With a charity so close to home and also the fact we are rugby players ourselves, having seen some of the effects serious injuries can have on some people, we feel we can relate to 'hearts and balls'.
What we will do with the funds?
This season we have seen some bad injuries for our own players, but the commitment has still been outstanding from everyone in the team, although the results seem to disagree with us. Therefore, we will donate 50% of the total amount to 'hearts and balls' and the rest of the money will be used to help organise a tour for the boys. It has been almost 4 years since our last tour and I think it is important to encourage the lads to keep going, stay motivated and keep playing. Gavin Hastings, a former Scotland and British Lions player once said, "Rugby has give us so much, now its time to give back"
Any donations are helpful and we are thankful for your help.
