Our daughter Candy (Candace) was born with cardiac issues. In fact she was annointed by the Kings Heralds as a young child. She has done well for many years, but has been a patient of Cleveland Clinic Cardiology for nearly 10 years and managed with medications. Last December she found out at her bi-annual appt. that her cardiologist wanted her to consult with a cardiothoracic surgeon. IN January of this years she was told the time for open heart surgery had arrived. She had Mitral Valve replacement last month. The surgery was successful. It was an unexpected change of valves that changed mid- procedure when it was determined they could not use her choice of a porcine valve due to nickel and other metals used to strengthen the prostheteic valve(s). She is allergic to nickel. So the surgeon had to opt for a mechanical valve- which now adds the dimension and challenge of coumadin use/regulation.

Once she recovers from this procedure- within a few months she will have another surgery at Cleveland Clinic to remove a device she is allergic to (the original nickel allergy culprit).

She fortunately has Cobra Insurance available to purchase to cover her healthcare expenses. She has however learned she will not be able to get unemployment because she will not be employable(required). She cannot collect on her personal disability policy- as there is no income to file against- 30 hrs min. wk. as is required per AFLAC. VERY frustrating when one tries to be proactive in having coverage(s) available- and those possibilities fall through the bureaucratic insurance loopholes..

She has been in Ohio since 2/18 for the surgery and aftercare. These medical expenses plus normal every day home expenses without current income for is not only stressful but is not helpful in terms of the recovery process. We are trying to experiment with social media in hopes we can help that we can help share her situation. Any and all donations are appreciated. Donations can be made here via Paypal-

Some friends have expressed not wanting to send a donation electronically- if you want to do so directly you can contact me directly on how to send a check or money order if you prefer. Even small donations multiply into large donations. Donations can also be made anonymously if preferred.
