Hearing Aids for Pop

We set up this page to ask for help for our Grandfather, he needs hearing aids and his medical insurance won't cover them.  The cost is $1800.00 and as a family we have come up with $400.00. Let us take some time to tell you about him.  Our Grandfather's name is Paul Norman Barrett but most of us just call him Pop. He served in the Army where he was a cook, he is a family man and was married to our Grandmother for 59 years untill we lost her very recently on August 10, 2014.  Our Grandparents were in foster care and took in and helped raise 113 foster children as well as the neighboring children and friends.  They owned and operated Barrett's Chicken Roost on Pleasent Valley Road in Westminster, Md. He also laid carpet for Mercer Carpet One Floor many years to help support his family. After the wear and tear on his knees finally got the best of him he went to work at Carroll Hospital Center as a custodial worker until the arthritis in his hands got so bad the he could no longer do what was required.  Our Grandmother always handled the phone calls and doctor appointments because of our Grandfather's hearing issues and now that she is gone it has become a big issue for him. We have offered to take him in and take care of him but he is a very independent man and insists on living alone.  This makes it very hard to call and check in with him because he can't hear who is on the other end of the phone.  We are reaching out and asking for help to get these hearing aids for a great man who has spent so much of his life giving to others. We are going through Chesapeake Ear Nose and Throat, Dr. Wess for the hearing aids.  Thank you so much for taking the time to hear about our Grandfather and anything that you could give would be very helpful.
