Healing Laura’s Hands

On Thursday, 20 September 2018, I was involved in an accident at home. The result? Serious wounds on both hands and arms from being burnt by flaming oil, which now requires ongoing treatment.

Treatment includes anti-bacterial ointment, anti inflammatory oral medication , pain killers, paraffin gauzes, Gauze swaps and bandages (which needs to be changed twice daily)

I have, to date, covered all my own medical expenses, however it has been less than a week and I have no more funds to allocate towards treatment. (Current Spend +-R1200)

The projection is that it will require a minimum of 3 months to reach a point where these medical expenses may be reduced. I have inquired with the Burn Unit at Rondebosch Hospital and they have advised that I should make an appointment to have the damage assessed but that I would need R3000 to cover the initial consultation and expenses that will come as a result.

The reason for this campaign is to assist me with medical expenses in the pursuit of healing and restoring my hands to optimum health and to avoid infection.

All funds will be allocated to the daily but long term treatment of the wounds and should I raise enough funds, I will make an appointment to see a specialist, however my main concern is the ongoing, daily treatment.

Lastly, I play piano and drums and will do everything to restore my hands to a state where I am able to fully enjoy these activities again.
