February 2019: I've been having issues with my balance, clumsiness and writing for some time, and my husband insists on going to the doctor and coming along. I have to do some walking, writing and seeing tests - and the point where I have to draw a circle and a square, I realize something is seriously wrong. The doctor calls the hospital and within 48 hours I am having MRI scan - suspected brain tumor. Another 48 long hours pass by and they call from the hospital informing me that luckily I have no brain tumor BUT cerrebelar ataxia / atrophy.
Now (November 2019): I cannot walk without support, my speech is slurring a little, swallowing is sometimes an issue, my fine motorical skills are gone, and I have had to close down my beloved business and yoga studio. From working many hours with lots of drive and creativity, I am lucky if I can accomplish a 6 hour workweek.
There is no known treatment of ataxia.
