Campaign Story
Since my grandmother was laid to rest in June 2011, every time I walk to her grave I pass a tiny little headstone. It has an image of a small child praying and is surrounded by toy cars and trucks. The date on the small stone shows that this little boy was not even 2 years old. As the months went by, I noticed that his temporary headstone was not being replaced by a permanent one. The months turned into years and I decided to google his family to see what the story was.
His name was Dakoda Randolph Scott. In February of 2011, his mother's boyfriend beat the little boy to death. The man admitted to the abuse. Dakoda died from his injuries just 2 days shy of his 2nd birthday. I am not sure why bua permanent headstone was never placed on his grave.
This has haunted me for a while. This poor little angel was treated like a temporary and disposable thing by this man during his life and now in death he still does not have anything permanent to mark his existence. I finally decided something had to be done. I have reached out to the cemetery (Earthman Resthaven) to finally purchase a far more lasting memorial for this little boy, Dakoda.
Any amount of money would be greatly appreciated and will go towards his headstone. Any monies raised over the cost of the headstone will be donated to the Women's Shelter.
Thank you,
Callie Sepolio

Being a new mom and working with sick children daily, stories like these kill me. This sweet, beautiful boy was taken so early. His short life added value to the universe. His absence leaves a vacuum. There is nothing that will ever make it better, but at least we can make sure to never forget.
