HCPT Group 715 Sponsored Cycle!

During the Easter week of this year (2014), myself and the rest of the 716 volunteer group attended this year’s HCPT. HCPT was set up in order to give disabled children an opportunity to get away from normal routine of everyday life, whereby volunteers work all week round to give disabled children a chance of a memorable and enjoyable week away in Lourdes, in the south of France. The children are able to experience and meet new people with similar disabilities, and interact with other children of their age in a calm and fun filled way. The children are able to visit the attractions around Lourdes, such as the town itself, the zoo, a day visit up to the mountains as well as joining in on the songfilled and relaxed Mass’s, with visits to the Baths, and the Grotto.  HCPT service groups provide daily activities, such as facepainting, arts and crafts, outdoors sports and serve the groups in anyway that can of helpful service to them.  I loved every moment of my time spent in Lourdes, so much that myself and my friends who attended this year want to go again during the Easter week of 2015! It really gave us an insight into the caring nature of those who we spent our time with, alongside the children themselves who were a joy and a pleasure to be assisting and spending time with during the week. However, this year without the financial support of my parents I am attempting to fundraise the entire trip myself, along with my friends Bugsy, Hannah and Emily.  So of course we have come up with several different fundraising ideas which will benefit not only us due to the money we will generate from the sponsored cycle, but also be a rewarding experience as well.  Our cycle ride will begin in the North Norfolk town of Wells-next-the-Sea, 25 miles east to the village of Overstrand.  Please donate so that we can give these children an unforgettable holiday of a lifetime, Thank you, Avril :-)    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nKHqVJJTKS0 - please watch to get an insight into what it means to the people who go and volunteer.
