While the world is facing the challenges of a fast spreading virus killing thousands of people, we face our own challenges to survive and feed our equines.

Donations have dramatically decreased while our grant appeals have been rejected even before virus outbreak.

Foundations in our country don't consider equine welfare as a priority.

No state or private subsidies and no EU grant have ever been given to us.

This is an incredibly difficult time for us and we appreciate your support during the Corona virus crisis.

We need 4.900€ to cover hay expenses and buy a portable shelter

to celebrate our 5^th Birthday at the end of May 2020, at our new home

Every donation matters so as to be able to cover hay expenses for the next four months total cost 2.400€

Also if we collect another 2.500€ we will be able to have for the first time our association’s first stable establishment and thus minimize our monthly expenses.

Share our dream, share our needs

Donations come from friends and people willing to help us. During the five years of our association's operation only two companies contributed a one-off donation: a few months ago a food chain brand offered an amount of 300€ and two years ago a businessman paid medical expenses for an amputated foal.

We need your help to pay our hay expenses for the next four months for equines we saved from abuse and neglect.

Adoption is not an option for many in Greece so we keep equines until a family is found to successfully rehome them. A large number of our rescued equines is only suitable to be kept as companion animals and people are not willing to offer them a second chance. Each time an equine finds a family a new abused or neglected one will take its place at our welfare society.

If we succeed to raise the amount needed for hay and shelter payment, any additional profit will be invested in future hay purchase, vaccinations, farrier expenses and dental care.

Who we are, what we need

“Ippothesis” is about Equine Welfare and Protection managed and represented before any authority, natural or legal person by a five-member Board of Directors.

A nonprofit organization registered number 30636/2015 Athens, Greece, we need more people to support us so as to be able to buy hay for the next 4 months and if possible to build our portable shelter.

We are all volunteers and we totally depend on donations.

Our story is our horses

In Greece there is no identification and registration of equidae. No legislation on working equidae exists so to protect them we only refer to articles of general legislation for animal’s welfare.

We have filed a written complaint registered number CHAP(2019)01176 and petition “Breach of Union Law by competent Greek Authorities results to lack of equidae traceability” registered number 1076/2019 against Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development addressed to the EU Committee DG/SANTE. Before this legal action we have also applied several written questions to the EU Parliament, Greek Parliament, letters including our proposals for equine welfare to the Ministry, articles through internet to aware public and officials but nothing has changed.

Advocacy expenses are covered by our members and donations via PayPal and bank account. Medical expenses and transportation, when needed, are also covered by our members and donations of our friends.

Our goal is to save as many equines as we can and establish an equidae legislation frame to end equine abuse in Greece
