Hawaii Get-Away Vacation Rental

Donate in exchange for a stay in a newly restored and renovated "classic" 1941 “Plumeria Plantation House”...

Within walking distance to the famous "Waikiki Beach" and "Diamond Head" is my three-generation-old family home that I want to turn into an exquisite vacation rental property.

I have a vision of making it a place for people to come and stay in my cozy, plantation-style cottage home without it costing an arm and a leg for travelers (hotel rates are $200-$400 and up per night, and even with the seasonal discounts offers are $140 per night and up.).

Since my initial posting much progress has been made that my main house is now up and running and able to take donor’s reservations immediately - see latest pictures of the main house!

THE PROJECT:

I soon found out that with an older home it is a very challenging balance to figure out the most cost-effective way, without tampering with the integrity of the original and genuine construction. Due also to the delicate nature of renovating an old redwood "tongue and groove" single-walled home, I quickly discovered that it requires someone with experience working on old homes.

I am now raising capital for Phase II which will be to turn my grandfather’s mud/shower room into another mini-guest cottage with a private bath (there will also be enough space to place my own portable infrared sauna made of cedar for everyone to enjoy its health benefits as well) which will open up to a small orchid garden and mini-waterfall! Part of the monies will also help to finish the “organic” fruit & veggie garden (so the guests may enjoy cooking meals from my garden) and to surround the back “lanai” (patio) with lush tropical floras and water feature for alfresco dining…BBQing Hawaiian-style!

And in exchange for donations to reach 5k I am willing to give away free nights of stay in a 2 bedroom/1 bath home) if you so wish as rewards, and in which you can gift to others as well (now that Christmas is coming up). For the larger sum donors there will be reservations for many more visits per year to come or perhaps for long term reservations!
