My name is Neira Osmanovic and I am a 24-year-old law student at the University of Vienna, originally from Bosnia&Herzegovina. I write on behalf of myself and the two of my colleagues, both hardworking law students from Bosnia, studying hard to make a better future for themselves and also for our country.
Our small group of three has been active in various organisations, many of them based on international character. Selma and I have been active members of Model United Nations Vienna debate club since 2013/14. Selma has already attended three VIMUN (Vienna Model United Nations) conferences, only once as delegate and twice as chair. At this year's VIMUN she chaired the International Atomic Energy Agency where she discussed the Nuclear Terrorism. She won a full scholarship on Rome Model United Nations 2016 and chaired the Commission on Crime Prevention and Criminal Justice where they concentrated on the Sustainable Development Goals. I also won full scholarship for the Rome MUN 2016 and went along with Selma, leading our small delegation as a faculty advisor among the professors from all over the world who also brought their delegations. At the other conferences I participated as delegate. We were extremely passionate on every single one of our conferences and did our best to represent our home country Bosnia and Herzegovina but also University of Vienna and our MUN Club. Selma has been an active alumna of YES program since 2010 and was an exchange student in the United States of America. After returning from the US she was an Alumni Coordinator for Bosnia and Herzegovina. I, myself, have won a full scholarship for studying International Relations of Turkey at Ankara University in Ankara and spent a full year at Gazi Üniversitesi TÖMER, finishing it with C1 degree in Turkish . Arif has also a longstanding history as a member in Progressive Reinforcement of Organisations and Individuals which deals with various society problems and drug addicts. He is doing his Master of Laws at the University of Vienna and was active as a fraternity representative at his home university in Zenica, Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As you can see, we all have extremely rich and multicultural background in the history of our education.
The reason why we decided to form this platform as a source of the financial support which we need in order to make our dreams come true is the attendance at this year's Harvard Model United Nations 2017. Unfortunately, we do not have financial support from our parents and since we all work in order to pay for our studies, we do not have the amount of money needed to fund travel, accomodation and participation fee. The best part of it all and our motiv for applying to conference is the possibility to win the partial scholarship from the HNMUN. The only condition for getting funds from them is to get the half of costs covered through some other organisations or individuals, such as this page. So we rely on YOUR generosity to help us make our dreams come true.
Taking in consideration all of the above, our dream is to represent our country Bosnia and Herzegovina at one of the biggest and most important MUNs in the world and to fight prejudice and discrimination presented in media against Bosnia. Since we study and live in Vienna, we also want to make our University of Vienna proud and to show them that we can make it even though we came there as foreigners and started from the bottom. This making happen would mean the world to us and to our universities, country, people and proffessors. It would not only make us closer to our personal goals, but it would also improve the picture of Bosnian students in the world and would motivate younger generations to give their best to make their dreams into reality.
