The Harold Ward Fund for Hope was set up in memory of Rev. Harold Ward who died 25th November 2012. His death brought an end to his many years of good work supporting people in difficult circumstances. The Fund was set up to assist services that echo his work and priorities. It raises funds to donate to charitable groups, organisations, individuals and families to support the relief of loneliness and poverty as well work for justice. The following good causes are prioritised: - Older people, especially visiting and befriending schemes and those designed to overcome problems of loneliness - People and families in poverty and movements to prevent poverty or tackle its creation through unjust systems - Families and individuals in difficult circumstances especially those experiencing personal tragedy, e.g. death, criminal conviction. Reflecting the work and interests of Harold, potential beneficiaries are mainly from the North West of England, especially those in Cheshire, Stockport and Wythenshawe, but contributions are not be limited to these areas.

‘Working in the church has brought me close to other people’s problems so often – many of them without the support and comfort of friends, family and the church that I am privileged to know – that I thank God for what I am given and am angered by the human world that produces not tragedy – which no-one can avoid – but injustice, differences between rich and poor, opportunity and hopelessness’. Harold Ward.

Services carried out or supported by churches and Christian organisations will be amongst those considered, reflecting Rev. Harold Ward’s beliefs and dedication but, like him, the fund will not discriminate by religion, race, colour, sex, or sexuality.
