There are plenty of practical reasons for why I should study abroad. There’s the fact that I would be able to gain credits that will count towards my minor in another country. There are the understandably cliché answers like, “I want an awesome life experience,” or “I want a fresh perspective on the U.S.” Those are great, and are totally included in my bulleted list of why I want to go Scotland next summer. But I think the real reason I want to travel is because there is a deep longing present within me to be intensely inspired. There’s something about the adventure of immersion in a new culture that seems to ignite this spark of inspiration. I want to be in sensory overload, more in awe of God. When I try to imagine what it is like in Scotland, I get excited to think of all the new things I would encounter. I want to try new foods and maybe actually like them, explore and appreciate the countryside and its beautiful scenery, have a hard time transitioning and adjusting, grow to love the locals, and let this guide me into a new chapter in my life. Thousands of students have gone on abroad and have raved about their experience, now I’m just trying to have my own experience to rave about.

It is a four week during the summer in the Edinburgh. I will receive 6 hours of US credit, which is fully transferable towards my degree. In addition to classroom knowledge, I will be involved in hands on experience that I will utilize later in life. Also included in the program are culture sites of Scotland and the Royal Highland Show.

The program is $4,895. This doesn’t include airfare however, it does include: tuition, room and board, most meals, and most excursions.
