Hi Lovely People,
I am here to create New Zealand's first moving pop up 'Stay Hearty Street Store" will be hosted by local volunteers. The Street Store model encourages people to "hang up and help out" by creating pop-up clothing stores in prominent public spaces where quality clothing can be made available to the homeless and urban poor at no cost. With the mounting pressure of Covid-19, family and friends are in desperate times. We will run this event because we daily engage with friends who are, or have been, homeless. We know that winter is a difficult time for those without a roof or adequate housing - it can be cold and miserable. We wanted to ensure that every person who is homeless has warm clothing and nutritious food over winter.
With the help of Local Businesses, Musicians, City Mission Stores and members of the public our volunteers will be able to redistribute thousands of items of clothing and sleeping gear to people who need it. We will target 12 main cities in New Zealand, Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, Hamilton, Tauranga, Napier/Hastings, Dunedin, Palmerston North, New Plymouth, Nelson, Rotorua, Wanganui. We will continue to run a Street Store pop-up twice yearly: in summer and winter.
Donations will go towards ongoing cost of producing merchandise that can be purchased online or in the pop up store. Proceeds will be donated to local City Mission Stores.
Your Kindness will warm our communities,
