Hands on Animal Charity SA

Hi  I am a 29 year old professional that is looking at supporting this wonderful animal charity by not only donating but also with a hands on experience over christmas and new years - the time when the animals need it the most, as fewer people volunteer during the festive season.

Here a short overview of the charity: Located on the Eastern Cape of South Africa, this magical conservation project aims to protect and preserve wildlife, whilst educating through close and personal experiences, with both Mother Nature and the African Big Five.

On this amazing volunteer programme you will have the opportunity to get hands-on with several on-going projects at the reserve, such as:

Assisting at the Elephant Sanctuary Game capture
Caring for lion cubs Caring for orphaned and injured wildlife
Looking after the various other animals
Game tracking and research
Predator awareness and breeding centre Research and Wilderness hikes Park maintenance and many more tasks

I would like to raise awareness that more people should invest in a once in a lifetime experience like this before considering other ways to spend their free time. As an experience like this will not only help the conservation greatly but it will leave you with an unforgettable experience.

I will make sure to share my experience of this with as many people as possible and hope it will encourage more and more to lend a helping hand and every now and then.

As this also comes with a cost I was hoping to raise as much as posible to guarantee my venture in a couple of months time.

In addition, I am currently looking for a part time job and I have given up smoking to increase my chances of funding this. The two weeks alone in the reserve costs £800. The cheapest flight I could find to Port Elizabeth so far is £467, however I am hoping that if I write to some airlines they may be able to offer me a cheaper rate given the reason I am going (unlikely yet hopeful. And you don't get if you don't ask)! Airport transport I will fund by asking my family to drop me off and pick me up as my christmas present this year.
