My Story

It has always been a goal of mine to run a marathon, I am doing the sensible thing and doing a Half Marathon first. Running the Liverpool Half Marathon will be a personal achievement for myself but raising money to benefit those a lot less fortunate and a lot more deserving, that is the real story here.

Someone very close to me spent 1 month volunteering her time at the Baannana Shelter in September/October 2015. The stories I heard about the children and people there really touched me. I would like to do my own part to help them as much as I can, which is why I am asking for donations towards this amazing organisation.

The Baannana Shelter - By Amy

Baannana, located in northern Thailand, has been providing shelter, care and education for children for almost 16 years. These are children who have fallen victim to the human trafficking situation, many of them at the border. A lot of these children are not registered at birth and so are not given a Thai Identification card, meaning that they have very few social and medical rights. Many of these children also suffer from a complete lack of education, often because they are forced by their families to earn money instead.

The stories of these children are so very heartbreaking, yet it has been so heart-warming during my time there to see how happy, kind and helpful these children can be once settled into life at Baannana. It truly has put my life into a whole new perspective!

The journey for these children is far from easy. The fight against human trafficking is far from over. But the more people aware of the situation and the more people prepared to do what they can to help means that more children living in this situation can be saved from it.
