Hi guys! I have been selected to travel to Haiti as a volunteer this March on a medical mission, spending 6 days in Thomonde. My school (George Washington University) has partnered with Project Medishare (http://www.projectmedishare.org) and we will be travelling with a team of physicians, medical students, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses with the goal of treating the Haitian people suffering from various illnesses or conditions. We travel to rural villages, set up mobile clinics and will care for the elderly, children, infants, pregnant mothers, etc.
After being devastated by the catastrophic earthquake in 2010, almost the entire medical system in place has been destroyed and the Haitian people now desperately rely on international medical workers in order to receive any type of health care.
Working with underprivileged and neglected communities has always been my passion and I’m so excited for my first mission! Being a student, I have only been able to cover a portion of the trip costs and I am hoping to raise $800 to cover my remaining travel expenses. I know times are tough right now but if you would like to help and support a good cause, I would greatly appreciate it. Any little bit helps!
