Hi guys! I have been selected to travel to Haiti as a volunteer in January next year on a medical mission, spending 6 days in Port-au-Prince at Haiti's only critical care and trauma hospital. I have joined http://www.projectmedishare.org/ and will be volunteering along side physicians, medical students, nurse practitioners, physician assistants and nurses with the goal of treating the Haitian people suffering from various illnesses or conditions. After being devastated by the catastrophic earthquake in 2010, almost the entire medical system in place has been destroyed and the Haitian people now desperately rely on international medical workers in order to receive any type of health care. Working with underprivileged and neglected communities has always been my passion and I’m so excited for my first mission! Being a graduate student, I have only been able to cover a portion of the trip costs and I am hoping to raise $800 to cover my remaining travel expenses. I know times are tough right now but if you would like to help and support a good cause, I would greatly appreciate it. Any little bit helps!
Cheers! Ben Mantei
