H.O.P.E. is a mentor/mentee program that fosters the idea of healthy relationships, conflict resolution, and communal self-awareness through a 12-week program designed and modeled from personal experiences of growth during incarceration. The program deals with young men between the ages of 16-25, and creates lasting relationships by developing a mentor/mentee atmosphere that is conducive for positive life decision making and promotes personal introspection.
The premise behind H.O.P.E. is creating bonds of trust through a mentoring concept. It is necessary to gain the trust of the participants to better assist them during their journey of transformation. The program outlines specific exercises that help to foster healthy relationships with family members, community strengths, and other members that are within their class cycle. We take this opportunity to demonstrate the effects of their choices, no matter how small, examine the issues that were factors in their incarceration, and give them the platform to take ownership of their transformation.
