Campaign Story
Gundermann Acres is a 500 acre vegetable farm in Wharton, Tx. Recently, along with many others along the Texas coast, we have been hit by one of the worst floodings in US history. The storm itself caused a lot of damage, however, the aftermath was even worse. The Colorado river is just a couple miles from both our farm and our home. On August 29th, the Colorado river started flooding. It completely covered our farm, in some places as much as 10ft. We pretty much lost everything. Contrary to what most people think, vegetable farmers cannot get crop insurance. Therefore, everything we do is a risk we take with no guarantees we will even make a crop. That same night, we were awakened by the tv news anchors naming our subdivision as one of the ones that needed to get out immediately.
