2017 Guatemala Dental/Medical Aid

Plans are underway for our next Dental/Medical Mission.

Red River College, in partnership with North Dakota USA State Medical Officer Dr. John Baird MD since 2009, are leaving for Guatemala July 9 and returning July 20, 2017. During this time, we will hold clinic care for local indigent people for 2 days in two different locations and remainder time providing care at the XELA woman’s prison.

The mission is presented September to students on orientation day, and each applicant is asked to describe reasons for participation.

The cost per student to participate is approximately $2500.00 that includes airline travel, land transportation to clinic sites, and room and board. Each participant is responsible for cost of meals and personal spending money while in Antigua. Our mission costs include anaesthetics, antibiotics and pain control along with dental materials. Total cost for this mission is $20,000.00 your financial help is appreciated

In 2016, we traveled to 6 different sites with medical and pharmaceutical team members from Minnesota, and North Dakota USA. Monday first clinic at the Xela Episcopal Church for half day, Tuesday – clinic in Trigales, mountain village north of Xela,Wednesday - Pacaja baja (school), northwest outskirts of Xela , Thursday –Chiquilaja (community hall), southeast of Xela, Friday –San Bartolo Aguas Caliente, in mountains north of Xela, Saturday – Xela (Iglesia Episcopal San Marcos)

Past team, members will tell you that they personally gained much from their experiences and feel more blessed by having worked with the people encountered. In spite of poverty and meager living conditions, the people we met were gracious.
