Grove Studios, in collaboration with local artist Dora Diaspora, are embarking on an adventurous Mural Project on Railroad Street in Ypsilanti, MI. Scheduled for completion by mid-September, the 50ft mural, designed by Diaspora, will depict visual interpretations of sound waves, asking the question, “What does Music look like?” Various community groups and volunteers will be involved to help finalize the project, which will help beautify Ypsilanti, and bring community members together!

This is also the essential purpose of Grove Studios, slated for a Grand Opening on Sept 22nd. The founders of the Recording Studio/Band Space wish to inspire musical and artistic collaboration in Ypsilanti, and that’s why Rick Coughlin and Eric Freibel have partnered with Dora Diaspora for this project. Dora’s design will draw attention to the plain warehouse building that houses the amazing studios and band rooms for rent. It will help musicians and collaborators find each other, and hopefully inspire them on their way in the door! By inviting community members to help with the painting, community building will begin before the doors even open. Volunteers can currently sign up at: www.volunteersignup.org/BYR7Y

We are currently seeking funding for paint, painting supplies, and if possible, water and snacks for volunteers! Anything helps!
