We are a group of five volunteers within the European Solidarity Corps program. More specifically we are working with A.C.T.O.R., a non profit-organization Romanian based in Bucharest.
As part of our volunteering activities, we have created a group project aiming to deal with one of the poorest areas in Bucharest we have been in contact with so far. We want to construct a green area on the grounds of the Children's pneumophysiology section of the Institute Marius Nasta. More specifically, we would like to rehabilitate a small part of the outdoor area of this hospital, by building a green house and gardening section in which kids and future volunteers alike will be able to benefit from.
The money will be used in order for us to buy all the materials needed (shovels, wood, iron, seeds, gloves, earth fertilizer, materials for the green house, etc.). The construction will be done by ourselves, with the help of our other fellow volunteers at the beginning of April.
We believe that this small project can have long lasting effects for that hospital in particular and for the Romanian society in general. This green space will not only promote entertainment and a betterment of the kids' lives, while interned at the hospital, but it will also help promote a small change on the lack of environmental awareness within most of the Romanian society.
Thank you in advance,
Steph, Mirco, Bart, Anthi and Malthe.
