Campaign Story
Mini hydro electrification of rural township in South Africa
We have secured a PPA ( Power Purchase Agreement ) with an South African government entity, lease on the land for 20 years, completed desktop Environmental Impact Assessment ( basic assessment), engineers report, an international mini hydro supplier signed up and a bank willing to finance the project ( total USD 3 125 000) once we find seed finance of USD 150 000 - the amount we trying to raise on this site.
This site is located in a rural area unsupported by government electricity supply and the containerized mini hydro unit's minimal environmental footprint makes this a perfect project to bring electricity to uplift a rural community with a green energy - using existing river water and barely effecting the environment.
Virtual all government and environmental requirements have been met, all we need is USD 150 000 to complete all the initial procedures that will then allow the bank to finance the rest of the project.
We should be producing electricity within 8 to 13 months of starting the project and will bring great opportunities and life improvement to a rural community long left out of these benefits.
