I am Penelope from Greece. I've worked with many enlightened human beings as an assistant director for theatre plays but soon discovered that through theatre and plays and all the people surrounding it, the expression I now choose to work on is words...poetry.
Greek words and Greek poetry.
In times like these, poetry and its magic seems to be an endangered species.
Poetry – amongst other- is supposed to relief human pain and vanish misery.
Αs an expression of human soul, a source of inspiration, an exploration of cultures worldwide, poetry does not exist to divide. History has shown that poetry exists to connect and achieve unity, without cancelling diversity. A canvas that keeps increasing in order to hold the history of human kind. Poems exist to remind people that they are not alone and that the intense feelings they experience, have been experienced before at every moment of human history and every place of the earth.
From my part, I try to conceive all the different proceedings at each given time according to my worldview and experiences.
Coming from Greece where human/ethical crisis in general is governing, it seems harder to persuade people to read poetry. Particularly when publishing a poetry book seems expensive, especially when someone is unknown or new to the market. I’m considering going through the traditional route of getting a publisher and not gamble with self-publishing.
Therefore, I would like to spend 3000 euro on printing, editing and publishing the first edition of the book (1000 copies with hard cover), ISBN serial numbers, fees, taxes and promotion and the rest of the money on a very caring professional translator to translate in into English (the most difficult part).
Thank you, I am truly obliged...
A man once said “words are like bullets, they never return”…
So let’s fill the world with kind, loving and meaningful words that matter, lets fill the world with poems.
