In 2012, the city of Reading, Pa. was featured in a NYTimes news article where it was declared, via the US Census bureau, to be the most impoverished city in the United States. 88,000 people, the majority of whom are living in povery, struggle with day to day life in attempt to maintain a grasp on basic neccesities. The city of Reading suffers dearly from an extremely high crime rate, a high drop-out rate, poverty and homelessness. We are making it our mission, to bring change to the city. To light a candle and to bring hope back to the people of Greater Reading.
The GreaterRdg campaign is seeking to become a charitable organization, to register as a 501(c)(3) Non Profit corporation. Funds raised by the campaign would be used to promote and further raise awareness of the positive institutions and talents within the Greater Reading area and help to spread the initiative on a national level through interactive and social media. Our campaign to build a nation-wide initiative, begins with this fundraider. We are raising money to further develop this initiative.
Funding is needed for the licensing and branding of the "Greater RDG" logo, to pay for air time on local broadcastiing stations and to further market the campaign on a nation-wide level. It is our desire to create and spread our ideas by utilizing social media networks like FACEBOOK*, TWITTER* and YOUTUBE; But to do this, we need funding to provide payment to small filming and photography freelance agents. We need funding to gain the ability to host live fundraising events- for t-shirts, newspaper ads, pamphlets etc.
