On September 9th 2015, I was driving to Lawton, OK to visit my grandmother. My wife and I had been arguing and I was needing some family support. During the drive, I spilled my smoothie all over the car causing my wife to pull over. Our dog Ghaly, who we love and miss deeply hopped out of the car then and was struck by a car. We instantly stopped arguing to the sight of our dead daughter. As I held Sara crying, a guy in khakis and a blue button up came up behind us in a car. He said he was a cop, and we should put our hands on the car. Racism is prominent in Oklahoma, and being black this wasn't new to me. As is was doing what the “policeman” directed, I asked him what I was being arrested for. He told me that he had my wife on dashcam pushing me, and he had phone calls of people arguing on the side of the highway. As I pointed to my dead dog in tears, I began telling him how we got here. He then asked my wife why she pushed me, and still crying she managed to get out a simple "I didn't."

I told him that I was trying to console her, but she wanted to get Ghaly out of the road. I didn't know whether to run across the highway to get the dog, or call the police, then you showed up. He then said well, I'm going to arrest you both for domestic abuse, as I have on dashcam your wife pushing you. Confused, I asked him why was I being arrested, as he began to handcuff me. He said that he didn't have to tell me, I turned to look at me wife who was now freaking out, and immediately the man threw his arm around my neck, and slammed me to the ground. Shocked, but not moving, I landed with my right arm underneath me pinned behind my back, and my left arm with the "so called" policeman on top. Scared I began asking him why was I being arrested? The man told me that he didn't have to tell me. At this time, two trucks pulled up, and 4 more white men hopped out in farmer's clothes. One immediately went behind me and started choking me, the three others began pulling my arm and legs out from under me. Still, not moving only asking these men to stop, I'm scared, I don't know why i'm being arrested. They told me to "shut the fuck up nigger, he'll tell you when he feels like it." Instantly I knew what was about to happen, and was scared for my wife. Sara was screaming "Let him go, You're choking him, you're killing him, Why is he being arrested" yet, she was being ignored. Finally a Police vehicle pulled up behind me, and the policeman handcuffed me. I asked him, why I was being arrested, and he told me that we have you on dashcam pushing your wife. Hurt, scared, confused, and upset, I told the policeman what happened from the start, and if you have it all on dashcam you need to pull it up and see for yourself. He told me that dashcams don't work that way, and it's going to take a while to get the video back.

He threw me into his police truck, while I watched them arrest my wife. I told him that he could do whatever he wanted to me, plant any charges he wanted on me, just leave my wife alone. I told him that, the first man wouldn’t tell me why I was being arrested, that I was never read my rights, he just slammed me on the ground for no reason. He then told me, “That’s what happens when you mouth off to a cop.” I then asked for a lawyer, and watched as they trashed our car, threw my crying wife in another vehicle handcuffed. I didn’t know how bruised I was until a deputy at Grady County took pictures of my wounds. My blood was seeping through my clothes, but thankfully I couldn’t feel the pain. The man that was taking the pictures was the first black officer I met, and i had to grieve for Ghaly in a cell for the past 6 days. I got out today and need money to press charges on these cops. I’m tired of abuse, and this dashcam footage will show “Shady Grady” county for what they really are. I need your help.

I’m trying to raise $3,000 retainer to hire a lawyer to prosecute these racist cops.
