Her name is Danica (Nica) Lazona and this is her story.
“I am a graduating student with honors this year but the thing is, I might not be able to march with my classmates because I have this missing requirement called the F-137 that I haven’t gotten in my previous school where I studied at last 2016. I was in ninth grade then and I thought life was good until my Mom got sick. She needed to undergo chemotherapy because she had a stage four breast cancer. Everything turned out greatly, she got healed but not until after a few months. She was diagnosed with brain cancer so she needed to get treated again. This time, she needed to undergo radiation which she did but Mom got really weak. She was bedridden for a few months. We prioritised her health rather than anything else because we wanted to be with my Mom longer and we knew that she wasn’t ready to go yet.
In the tenth grade, I didn’t want to stop studying so I had no choice but to move to a different school which is where I am studying until now. The school was kind enough to let me study here even though my requirements were not complete but now that I am a graduating student, I need the F-137 to be able to march. My Mom passed away last October 30, 2016 and everything fell apart. We had financial problems and it has gotten really bad. Nonetheless, I still continued to study despite the struggles that my family faced and is still facing.
Now, I have a huge debt in my previous school that we have a hard time paying since we’re just starting again. We were supposed to pay the school last year but I had dengue and I was needed to get confined for a week. A few months ago my Dad had a mild stroke and is not able to attend to his work because he needs to rest. Still I am grateful for all those people who has been with me through ups and down. I am also thankful for you, who’s generous enough to help me graduate with pride. May God bless us all.”
Danica’s previous school, requires a full payment of outstanding fees of approximately P100,000 in order that she can claim completion of the requirements of secondary school. Without the full payment, she will not be allowed to go on stage to claim the honor that she worked so hard for her parents, especially for her mom.
Please, if you can find it in your hearts to help out, any amount (from a minimum of P1) will be of huge help and will be greatly appreciated.
